At our December board meeting we had a presentation by Janelle Fields who is an interactive marketing expert. In the future, we may be expanding our fan base by using the World Wide Web using various methods of communication including twitter, facebook, and blogging. At the meeting, Rick Moore showed us what more could be done with our website.
We have already been making plans for our show at the new SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College. Our club had a booth at an invitation only open house on December 6th. We had displays of minerals, fossils, and jewelry. Several members of our club had a chance to check out the facilities of the new building.
Some of the members of the show committee have felt that we need more dealers who sell beading and lapidary supplies. I am OK with this change. Several new dealers have been contacted and have agreed to participate in our show. One new dealer is willing to take seventeen tables in wholesale and several tables in the retail area.
Our Christmas brunch was well attended. Overall, everyone had a great time. I think it is time that we move the location of the party. If you have any suggestions regarding a new location, please contact any officer of the club. I was unable attend the Christmas brunch since my wife and I were out of town over the
The suggestion was made that I should give some additional advice on how to get to our clubhouse at Shoppingtown Mall including where to park. You should park your car in the garage and close to mall entrance number six . The parking garage is just off from the Kinne Road entrance to the mall and adjacent to the lower entrances of JCPenney and Sears. Enter the mall through entrance number six and take the escalator upstairs and walk down the hallway. Our location is to the right at the end of the hallway.
I hope to see you at our January meeting. Visitors are always welcome.

It is official: First Presbyterian Church United is closing its doors after the Easter Sunday service next April 8th. The congregation may be moving to a new location or merging with another church. This was one of the reasons why we made the decision to move our monthly meeting location. Most of the material stored in the Parish House basement has been moved to the mall.
Our clubhouse at Shoppingtown Mall is more user friendly with a better seating arrangement. Most of you are aware that the former owner of the mall, California-based Macerich, defaulted on their final loan payment last May. The company still manages the mall but recently advised The Post-Standard that the property will be sold to a new owner by mid-2012. We have not been officially notified by the mall management team of this change.
We are officially moving our July show to the new SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College. The contract has been signed which includes curtains, chairs, round tables, and camper power hook-ups at no additional charge. The rental fee is less than what we have been paying for the use of the Center of Progress Building! A letter explaining the change has been mailed to the dealers with an amendment to their contract. We are excited to be one of the first trade shows in the brand new building. There are several events scheduled prior to our show. If there are any kinks, they will be worked out by the time we arrive.
It costs the club around $10.00 a year to mail the Crack N’ Cab to those members who do not have E-Mail. The insurance policies for the club cost a total of $5.40 for each member. If you have not paid your annual dues, you will be dropped from the mailing list for the newsletter and our membership list in the near future.
We have a number of excellent speakers and field trips planned for 2012. I hope we do not have any more major changes with our club until I become a past president. I hope to see you at our November meeting. Visitors are always welcome.

Our first fall meeting of the club was held at the new clubhouse located at Shoppingtown Mall. We had over eighty people in attendance. I hope that our October meeting will feel less crowded with a better arrangement of seating.
If you have material for the auction, PLEASE come early to fill out the forms needed for the auction items. As mentioned, you need to have your membership dues paid in order to sell material. In addition to the auction material we have mineral specimens’ available, minimum donation of $0.25, from the collection of
As a result of our move to Shoppingtown, there are a number of projects available for volunteers. Attention Carpenters: John Sweeney needs your help in installing security doors to the existing shelving in the back room. Also, additional shelving will be installed in the area opposite those shelves. We can still use some additional folding tables and chairs. Please let me know when you are available to help.
Our clubhouse classes will be in full swing shortly. I suggest that you take advantage of our instructors’ vast knowledge of our hobby.
Our Christmas Brunch will be on December 4th at the Steak & Sundae Restaurant. As you recall, all those who worked at least eight hours at the Gem Show will receive a free meal.
I hope to see you at our October meeting. Visitors are always welcome
