Saturday July 10th 

11 - 12 noon – Keith Gilmer
Malachite – Going Green Rocks!

Keith will discuss his most favorite stone of all – he is fondly known as the Malachite Maniac! Keith is editor of the Crack N’ Cab – the GMSS newsletter.

Minerals of New York State

PhD, Chairman of the Rochester Mineralogical Symposium, Coordinator for the Center of Mineralogy at the NY  State Museum, consulting editor for ROCKS and MINERALS magazine, an expert’s expert in the field of mineralogy who radiates enthusiasm

 2 pm - 3 pm -  Jay Tinker – Fossils of New York State

Jay is former GMSS club president. He has given numerous presentation on fossils to groups including  the Junior Rockhounds, Head Start  and college geology classes all using his own traveling teaching collection.  Jay and his family have donated hundreds of fine and rare specimens to PRI and he was a volunteer there for many years.

Native American  Stone Sculptor

Tom will speak about the art of sculpting in a variety of stones, styles and themes.  He attended the Institute of Native American Art in Sante Fe, NM and the Rhode Island School of Design. He has been teaching classes locally.

12 pm -1 pm – Dave Arcaro
Fossils of Calvert Cliffs Maryland

Dave is a serious collector of sharks teeth and other fossils which he has grouped into 3 time periods from the Calvert Cliffs and surrounding areas. Dave has led our club members on some memorable trips to this area.

Eurypterid – The New York State Fossil

3 pm - 3:45 pm – Georgia Cuningham, PhD, publisher of  the  “Metaphysical Times” – The Uses of Gems and Minerals in Metaphysical Disciplines
