In the Children's Area


Prospectors use a sluice to find gold and precious stones. You can try your hand at searching for minerals and polished stones with GMSS's GemWorld sluice.
Soapstone Carving
Use your imagination to design and carve your own soapstone figures using safe and simple tools.
Create bracelets, necklaces, anklets (or whatever) using simple techniques and real natural beads.

12:00pm to 12:45pm : FOSSIL WORKSHOP
How are fossils made? How old are they? What type of organisms have made fossils. Make your own fossil to take with you. Recommended for 3rd to 8th graders.
How T. rex has been depicted in books and movies, public conceptions and the thoughts of paleontologists as to what he looked like. In this interactive presentation, paleontologist Rob Ross from PRI will show you how to draw T. rex.
